RME Update for intervention schools
Thank you for your support of the RME trial extension into the 2020/21 school year. We hope you have had a good start to this unprecedented term! Below is some information to help support you and your Year 9 students this Autumn term.
You will need an RME website account to access the resources mentioned below. If you do not have an account, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an account. Please do contact us if you have any other questions or suggestions.
- RME materials for Year 9
We will be providing a ‘Making Realistic Connections’ RME module for this Autumn. The materials bring together the RME approaches from Year 7 and Year 8 and support transition into Year 9. They can be used flexibly alongside your existing scheme of work, to support students working from home or in the classroom, and are designed to be accessible to all students, regardless of their previous exposure to RME methods. The materials cover (i) number and proportional reasoning, (ii) geometry and measures, (iii) algebra and (iv) data and are available here.
- Teachers new to RME
Introductory materials for teachers joining the RME trial in 2020 are available here. In case any other teachers at your school will be working with the RME students from Year 8, or would like to use the RME materials, please share this information with them. We would be more than happy to set up an RME website account for them – please let us know their names and email addresses.
- Online RME training sessions and next steps
The after-school online RME training sessions this Autumn (during the first week of October, November, and December) are complete. The next stage of the trial is the assessment of Year 9 students in April/May 2021.
Thank you again for your support of the RME trial and we look forward to working with you!
