School closure: Update on the 2018-2020 EEF-funded RME trial
Information for all RME trial schools, control or intervention, posted 19th March 2020
The closure of schools in England on 18th March 2020 means that we have needed to make some adjustments to the RME trial. The immediate details are:
Conducting the GL Assessment test planned for June/July depends on whether schools stay closed into the summer term or not. We will provide an update when the situation post-Easter becomes clearer.
Given the rapidly evolving situation, we will be maintaining an ongoing discussion with the funder, the Education Endowment Foundation, and the Independent Evaluators at Sheffield Hallam University. We will send relevant updates to schools by email and we will also share them here.
Please do contact us at email@example.com if we can be of any help or if you have any questions or comments.

- Training Day 8 will no longer take place in April. We are working on some alternative online events in May for those who would like to join and are able to. We will also be putting some of the resources we would have explored in the Training Day online. Watch this space for further details following Easter.
- The final module – Algebra for Year 8 – will be ready and available in the classroom materials section of the website as usual, by April 6th. We will provide some additional contextual support for this module.
Please do contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if we can be of any help or if you have any questions or comments. In the meantime, if you are working with students, please continue to use relevant RME approaches, materials, and the retrieval tasks.
Thank you for your work on and support of the RME trial.
