School closure: Update on the 2018-2020 EEF-funded RME trial
Information for all RME trial schools, control or intervention, updated, 8th June 2020
- We anticipate that the GL Assessment test planned for Year 8 students in June/July 2020 will now be scheduled for Spring 2021, with the students in Year 9. We will be in touch with further details in the week commencing 6th July 2020, including for middle schools, whose students would have moved on to secondary schools.
- The teacher survey scheduled for this June/July is a critical element of the RME evalution, especially now with the disruption of the student test. Sheffield Hallam University will be sending a link for the online survey in the week commencing 15th June. We appreciate it is a challenging time due to COVID-19 and we would be very grateful if you could complete the survey this summer.
We hope you and your students and colleagues are all well. Please do contact us at email@example.com if we can be of any help or if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you for your work on and support of the RME trial.

Conducting the GL Assessment test planned for June/July depends on whether schools stay closed into the summer term or not. We will provide an update when the situation post-Easter becomes clearer.
Given the rapidly evolving situation, we will be maintaining an ongoing discussion with the funder, the Education Endowment Foundation, and the Independent Evaluators at Sheffield Hallam University. We will send relevant updates to schools by email and we will also share them here.

For Intervention schools:
- Training Day 8 will no longer take place in April. We are working on some alternative online events in May for those who would like to join and are able to. We will also be putting online some of the resources we would have explored at Training Day 8.
- The final module, Algebra for Year 8 (Challenging Gradient, on linear graphs), is now available at the module materials page.
Please do contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if we can be of any help or if you have any questions or comments. In the meantime, if you are working with students, please continue to use relevant RME approaches, materials, and the retrieval tasks.
